A “Fun” Fund Update

Posted: October 8, 2012 in Uncategorized

Greetings — for those of us who haven’t met, I’m Tim Stevens (Dena likes to refer to me as her “little” brother). I once again hijacked their blog this week to give you an update on everything that has happened through the “Friends of Patrick & Dena McGoldrick Fund” that was set up several months ago. I think you will be astounded by what God has done.

As of today, nearly $28,000 has been given toward our $50,000 goal. That is unbelievable! Over 75 gifts have been received, and several people have given more than one time. The gifts have ranged in size from $25 to $5,000, with everything in between, and they have come from people all over the country.

Because of your generosity, here is a sampling of how we have been able to use the funds:

  • Tuition for Parker’s senior year (this made it possible for Dena to only work two-days a week this school year so she can care for Patrick).
  • Chair lift to enable Patrick to get up and down without assistance.
  • Speech assistance equipment.
  • Doctor bills not covered by insurance.

The weeks and months ahead are going to get more difficult. With each day comes a new challenge as they adapt to less mobility and a greater dependence on others. I know those of you who read this blog are people of prayer. I would fervently ask you to not let up. Pray for Patrick, yes, but also for Dena and the kids.

And if you can help financially, please send a gift to help us meet the goal. There are two ways to donate:

  1. By credit card or debit card on our WePay donation website.
  2. By check. Write your check to “Friends of Patrick & Dena McGoldrick” and mail it to: Fifth Third Bank, 40980 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if Dena wouldn’t have to worry about bills, and Patrick would have the comfort of knowing that? Every gift size matters–thank you for whatever you can do.
